Explore one of Southern Nevada's oldest mines and travel the path of early settlers on this unique Las Vegas tour of Eldorado Canyon and the Colorado River.
Upon pickup from a Las Vegas hotel, you will travel back in time on a scenic ride 30 miles south to Eldorado Canyon. Along the way, you'll learn about the early explorers of the Las Vegas valley and how the Colorado River helped or hindered their exploration.
Once at the mine, you'll experience an hour-long guided above and below ground tour of one of the oldest and most famous gold mines in Southern Nevada, the Techatticup mine. Not only will you explore the mine, but you'll even see the veins of ore that the miners chased. Enjoy intriguing folklore and facts about Nevada’s mining history and adventures of the Wild West.
From there your tour proceeds to Nelson’s Landing at the Colorado River where you'll embark on a two-and-a-half hour smooth-water river adventure aboard a motorized raft along the same route followed by early Nevada explorers as they attempted to find gold, transportation routes and adventure. A veteran raft pilot will share stories of early river explorers and point out interesting geological formations, flora and fauna.
A box lunch, including a wrap, fruit, cookies, chips and bottled water, will be served.
Next is a brief stop with photo opportunities at the Hoover Dam and the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.
Your group will then return to Las Vegas with a better understanding of Southern Nevada's earliest and most prosperous industry -- mining.
