Just when you thought Sin City couldn't get any sexier, we decided to crank up the heat with "50 Shades! The Parody" -- a deliciously sexy and wickedly funny parody based on the best-selling novel Fifty Shades of Grey.
Exploring the steamy relationship between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, as seen through the eyes of a trio of seemingly modest girlfriends reading the novel at a book club gathering, there is no shortage of tantalizing temptations and racy escapades as the characters' naughty affair comes to life before their eyes.
But not to worry, for all of you who haven't read the book (or still want to pretend like we don't know what's really on that Kindle of yours), this is not a requirement in order to enjoy the production… considering that all of the characters in the play are a total spoof of the originals.
However, for those of you who have flipped through the saucy pages of the first romance novel in the series, you will find yourself cracking up at the way the characters in the parody are portrayed. For starters, the production's take on Christian Grey is anything but the dark and mysterious character we gushed over in the novel.
This Christian, along with all of the other characters, hilariously exaggerates everything that the book makes out to be oh-so serious…oh and for most of the show, his less-than-trim figure is squeezed into a deep-cut, short shorts unitard that, just like the novel, leaves practically nothing to the imagination. Why? Well because it's hilarious and completely unexpected, kind of like his solo musical number "I don’t make love (I f**k)."
But Christian is definitely not the only one to break into song during this musical parody.
Other original musical scores belted out by the truly talented cast include "Open Your Book," a sweet little number that opens the audience’s eyes to the dirty thought-driven show they are about to experience as well as, "Hole Inside of Me," a heartfelt balled where Ana professes to have a certain – ahem – hole inside of her filled, all of which are among a punch-line packed script written with lines from the sexy book's dialog, this comedy nails the essence of a parody.
While the show is raunchy, it's anything but serious therefore making it a great entertainment option for anyone with a great sense of humor including your best gal pal, your hubby, mom or even grandma – that is, if you think she could laugh at 69 minutes of dirty humor (yep… even the show length is sexy).
But, if you're sitting close to the front, beware that you just may temporarily be selected to be the center of attention if Ana's roommate chooses you as her shagging post.
With hilarious dances, perfectly awkward situations, and no shortage of hysterical one-liners, this comical sendup to "Fifty Shades of Grey" has audiences rolling on the floor and dancing in the aisles. As clothes come off (you will see a lot of one Christian Grey, two sets of washboard abs, and a flash of one toned man tush) and the novel's characters come to life in an un-bashful and unexaggerated fashion, you will see for yourself just how funny the nature of the erotic novel really is when it is stripped (literally) of all seriousness.
