Nothing is off limits for Rodney Carrington. From relationships and beer to the Bible and his manhood, you can never be sure what he's going to talk about when he steps onstage. But that raunchiness is just part of his charm.
Whether you're from the country or big city, you're sure to laugh out loud (and maybe blush a little) when Carrington starts spinning his stories about everyday life in the heartland.
Known for donning a wide-brimmed, 10-gallon hat, Carrington isn't a hardened cattleman. He was born in Texas but instead of working ranches and busting broncos he took theater classes at junior college and spent his evenings honing material at local open mic nights.
When Carrington began making appearances on syndicated morning radio shows (like "Bob and Tom" and "John Boy and Billy"), the huge exposure shot him toward stardom. It also revealed that along with a knack for saying uproarious things, Carrington also has a talent for bawdy singing.
He released his first major comedy album, "Hangin' with Rodney," in 1998 and it included the tunes "A Letter to My Penis" and "Fred," which will forever be fan favorites. Over the years, Carrington has released four more albums – "Morning Wood" (it was certified gold and received a platinum designation from the Recording Industry of America), "Nut Sack," "King of the Mountains" and "El Niño Loco" – along with a "Greatest Hits" compilation, the holiday CD "Make It Christmas" and the live album "C'mon Laugh You Bastards."
In addition to recording that slew of albums and performing live, Carrington has made a name for himself on the small and big screens. He starred in his own TV sitcom called "Rodney." It ran on ABC from 2004 - 2006. Carrington also co-wrote and co-starred with Toby Keith in the 2008 film "Beer for My Horses."
Carrington has even taken a stab at penning a book. In 2007 he published "Coming Clean," which of full of his hilarious down-home stories.
The father of three boys, Carrington lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but is constantly on the road. He'll be in Las Vegas at MGM Grand during the National Finals Rodeo. Named among the Top 10 highest grossing touring comedians, all we can say is that you'd better buy tickets quickly if you want to get an earful of Carrington's Texas-sized humor. He's so popular he typically performs to sold-out crowds.
Don't miss your chance to catch this famed funnyman when he takes the stage at the MGM this winter.
