When we were growing up, we wanted to be either a magician or a showgirl. Arsenio Hall was smart, he wanted to be a comedian, an actor AND the host of his own TV show. Needless to say, we should’ve wanted to be like Arsenio.

Arsenio Hall has been doing standup since 1984, but it wasn’t until a little actor by the name of Eddie Murphy came along and gave Hall a role in a teeny, tiny movie, “Coming to America” (maybe you’ve heard of it), that got the success ball rolling. But that was peanuts compared to what was coming his way, because from 1989 to 1994, his late night talk show, “The Arsenio Hall Show” was arguably the biggest show on TV. The show launched him into another stratosphere because he went on to star in movies and shows, host numerous awards shows AND travel the globe performing his standup sets. Not too shabby, eh?

Arsenio Hall has inspired us to revisit our childhood dreams. If he can accomplish all of those things, then we can totally be a showgirl AND a magician. All that’s left to figure out is how we’re going to saw ourselves in half.
