Eleven-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani serves award-winning pizza in an energetic, rock 'n' roll atmosphere at Pizza Rock at Green Valley Ranch. It's his second location in town, joining his popular downtown outlet.

Pizza Rock's menu starts out with antipasti including Italian fries in truffle, gorgonzola or rosemary garlic varieties, beer battered artichokes and white wine clams. Entrees include a variety of favorite Italian dishes like sausage and peppers, chicken Parmigiana and eggplant. The food is made with authentic Italian ingredients and organically-grown produce. All fresh pasta is made on-premises, as is the Sicilian and Calabrese link and bulk sausages.

All those entrees are amazing, but let's face it -- you come here for the pizza. Gemignani is president of the World Pizza Champions; the first and only Triple Crown winner for baking at the International Pizza Championships in Lecce, Italy; and the 2007 World Champion Pizza Maker at the World Pizza Cup in Naples, Italy, where he was the first American and non-Neapolitan victor. Basically that means he makes a great pizza.

Pizza Rock offers a wide variety of artisan pies in several styles. The Napoletana pizza is cooked in a 900-degree woodfired oven. The California style pizza is made with Caputo flour and comes in unique options like quail egg white rose potato guanciale (mozzarella, white rose potatoes, chorizo, pork cheek, lavender sea salt).

You'll also find American Originals cooked in a 550 degree gas brick oven. We recommend the sausage and stout.

The classic Italians are baked in a 650 degree oven. Be sure to try the Cal Italia, the Gold Medal winner of the Food Network Pizza Champions Challenge. It's made with asiago, mozzarella, gorgonzola, sweet fig, prosciutto, Parmigiano-Reggiano and balsamic reduction.

More options include New York-style, Sicilian-style and Chicago cracker thin-style. Gluten-free varieties are available as well.

Desserts include Italian favorites like gelato, tiramisu, mud pie and a pecan turnover.

There's an extensive wine list, and more than 30 craft beers on tap and in bottles to wash down the pizza.
