Chef Gordon Ramsay's first burger venture, Gordon Ramsay BurGR, takes comfort food to an entirely new level.
Appetizers include Ramsay's take on things like chicken wings. The "Fury Wings" are four spicy blue cheese wings and four honey-wasabi wings. An order of jalapeno poppers is served with a cheddar bacon ranch dressing in individual shot glasses. Beware -- one of the peppers in the order is an extra spicy surprise with the seeds still in it -- you won't know which one it is until you bite into it.
Burgers are, of course, the star of the menu here and they are intensely flavorful, cooked over an open flame fueled by hard woods. The burgers are made with cuts of short rib, brisket and chuck and basted in Devonshire butter, which adds to the rich taste. Burgers are served on milk-based brioche buns, made fresh daily and topped with sesame seeds.
There are several options available including the Euro Burger, topped with truffle aioli, goat cheese, arugula and oven roasted tomato. The Chanterelle burger features chanterelle mushrooms, arugula and figgy onion jam. If spice is your thing, try the Hell's Kitchen Burger, made with asadero cheese, roasted jalapenos, avocado and roasted tomato.
One truly special burger is the Hog Burger, made with Mangalitsa pork. The pork is known for its rich texture and flavor and is not available anywhere else in Las Vegas. The melt-in-your-mouth patty is basted with maple butter and served with sharp cheddar and arugula.
For those who don't eat meat, a vegetarian Earth Burger is available, made with grilled Portobello mushroom, fontina cheese, arugula and roasted tomato.
There are three types of fries to accompany the burgers -- regular, served with chipotle ketchup and curry ketchup; truffle Parmesan, served with truffle aioli; and sweet potato fries, The menu also features all-natural beef Devil Dawgs, Ramsay's take on foot-long hot dogs.
Desserts are definitely worth saving room for. There are five different shake options, but these are not traditional shakes -- they are all topped with rich pudding and a cookie. Try Shake # 5 -- a coffee shake with chocolate hazelnut pudding and a praline cookie.
For a smaller dessert option, the sticky toffee pudding push-up pops are a great way to indulge your sweet tooth. Each order comes with two and they are just like the ice cream push pops you remember from childhood, but with some very grown-up flavors. The pop is made with salted peanut ice cream and layers of sticky toffee pudding cake. It's just the right portion size and a perfect way to end the meal.
The restaurant also serves a variety of beers and cocktails. BurGR pours more than 30 beers, all from a stunning frozen tap wall.
The 5,660-square-foot restaurant is open to the casino floor and features a bar and lounge, a main dining room and counter dining space where guests can watch their burgers being prepared in an open kitchen. The vividly colored restaurant seats 200 and is accented by an undulated ceiling, steel and concrete floor, keg display and open kitchen. With 16 high- definition televisions, BurGR is an ideal place to view entertainment and sporting events. The uniforms, designed by Allison Leach (costume designer for "Glee" and "Mad Men"), contrast the bright colors of the restaurant with their muted tones.
