BarMasa, brought to you by New York Chef Masayoshi Takayama, features traditional Japanese cuisine like sushi, with a little flair thrown in.
The space features raw materials like glass, woods, concrete, and metals. The clean design makes for a perfect backdrop to Takayama's savory cuisine.
BarMasa uses fish that have been out of Japan's coastal waters for no more than 24 hours. Start out with the signature Toro tartare with caviar. Other options include rock oyster, live lobser sashimi ceviche, beef sashimi and spicy tuna tataki.
Salads include spicy cucumber cilantro tataki and a warm grilled octopus with onion caper.
For those looking for non-seafood or sushi options there are menu items like braised short rib, chicken yakitori, Peking duck, BBQ lamb and habanero beef tacos.
Vegetarians will appreciate sizzling green asparagus with garlic chives, baby shishito peppers and Maitake mushroom with truffle. Noodle and rice dishes round out the menu.
