The shiny blue glass-framed M Resort on the outskirts of town provides a hip Vegas experience including modern rooms, a gorgeous pool, a popular buffet and several other restaurants.
Chic simplicity, off the beaten path, a relaxed retreat
One thing that sums up the M Resort is its lobby. There's a display of 800 calla lilies here. A little secret: They're not real, but they are scented. Placed in floor-to-ceiling steel trellises, these silk faux flowers are stylish and tranquil...and that's what you can expect of your stay.
The subterranean bar Hostile Grape is a great place to sip wine. Walk downstairs into its classy cellar-like atmosphere. After purchasing a prepaid card, you can grab a glass and start serving yourself...but be careful because with 160 different wines available through the special dispensing system, it's easy to go overboard.
The cupcakes and homemade gelatos in Baby Cakes...well, we just love, love, love them. This little artisan bakery is open 24 hours and located mere steps from the room elevators. So that means you can come down and feed your sweet tooth whenever you get a craving. (Yes, that includes 2 a.m. on a Tuesday.)
Starting at 550 square feet, the rooms at M Resort are much larger than typical hotel rooms. And you'll enjoy views of both the desert and the Strip from floor-to-ceiling windows that boast remote-control shades.
The M Resort sits about 10 miles south of the Strip on Las Vegas Boulevard. If you want to avoid crowds and have more of a resort-style vacation, this is the place. However, if you want to be on the Strip, getting there is a 20-minute drive.
Aside from drinking, dining and relaxing by the pool (all great things, we know), there are no major shows or attractions at the M Resort. The hotel does offer live music on weekends in Ravello Lounge and the occasional tribute act in the M Pavilion, but you’ll have to make the aforementioned trek to the Strip if you want to see a concert or production show.
If you don't have a car or want to pay for a cab, utilize the M Resort's free shuttle service both to and from the airport and to and from the Fashion Show mall, which is located near the heart of the Strip.
Eat at the Studio B buffet, where unlimited beer (on tap), wine and coffee-based drinks like espresso are included in the price. You can also save money by going on Monday through Thursday because during the weekend seafood buffet the price jumps by about $16.
The M Resort's M pool has tricked-out cabanas to rival those at pool clubs on the Strip -- and you'll be able to rent them for a fraction of the cost. Imagine spending an afternoon in a "Penthouse Patio," which features a lawn, lounge-style furnishings and games like beer pong and bean bag toss.
Need gas? You won't get lost looking for a gas station because there's an Arco (as well as a convenience store and a Jack in the Box) adjacent to the property.
