When walking from the parking garage or east valet to the casino at SLS, you’ll pass a variety of shops and eye-catching sights. One that might require a closer look is Monkey Bar. This bar is so suave that even the apes are wearing suits. But we assure you, the portraits on the wall are the only reminders you’ll have of how inevitable our downfall will be at the hands of our new simian overlords.
Intimate yet laid bare, much like a monkey, Monkey Bar has a charming and understated atmosphere that’s perfect for a casual drink before saying goodbye or a meetup with a new acquaintance or old friend. And unlike many bars for which we could write the exact same poignant yet vague description, Monkey Bar has opted for long seating and an airy vibe that could easily turn the stranger next to you into that new acquaintance you eagerly await next time.
With live music that somehow still sounds beautiful even beyond the already loud music blasting through SLS, and a sweet bar that opens right into the hall, Monkey Bar is too nice and sophisticated for us to make a joke about it monkeying around. Thankfully, it’s got enough heart to forgive us when we inevitably do.
