Barbary Coast Race and Sports Book Review

If you're after that nostalgic Vegas feel, the Barbary Coast's Race & Sports Book may just be your place.

From its racing forms area complete with desk lamps to its hot dog stand, from its funky vinyl chairs in the sports area to its seasoned clientele, this place oozes old Vegas.

Upon entering, the betting windows are straight ahead. They are quite tight and dated, Vegas style. The race book is anchored by a massive big screen, which is surrounded by two banks of six smaller TVs, 42-inch plasma screens. Race results are handwritten on wall boards to the viewer's left.

Two rows of seats and tables, both four deep, have the closest view. Individual TVs are toward the back. At the very back is an old-fashioned counter with racing forms and funky gold desk lamps, which are on despite the fact that book is well lit.

On the sports side, which is just to the horseplayer's right, there is a small area with loose individual padded seats. There are 10 42-inch plasma screen TVs for viewing. The hot dog cart is located in the rear of the parlor.

The book has electronic boards, which are located in both the race and sports area.
