Bureau of Reclamation Awards Ticketing Operations for Hoover Dam to VEGAS.com
Las Vegas, NV (Nov. 10, 2005) - The Bureau of Reclamation has announced a $1.55 million annual contract awarded to VEGAS.com to operate ticketing at the Hoover Dam, the largest and most-visited attraction in Southern Nevada off the Las Vegas Strip.
Under the five-year contract, VEGAS.com will introduce automated ticketing kiosks on-site at the Hoover Dam for the first time, and will employ 22 people on-site seven days a week to operate and manage ticketing operations. VEGAS.com will deploy its state-of-the-art ticketing technology, further increasing VEGAS.com's leadership position as an information and booking source for all Las Vegas tourist activities and attractions.
The 70-year old Hoover Dam is known as the man-made wonder that is a testimony to this country's ability and ingenuity to construct great landmarks in times of adversity. Built during the Great Depression, it took only five years to construct. It was the largest dam of its time and one of this country's most recognizable historic landmarks.
"As the largest and most trusted purveyor of information on Las Vegas, we are honored and excited to be selected by Reclamation as both the technology and management provider for this national treasure," said Howard Lefkowitz, President of VEGAS.com.
VEGAS.com operates more than 21 retail locations at many of the most popular hotels on the Strip, including the MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Paris, Bally's, the Palms and the Stardust. VEGAS.com was ranked as one of the world's top 50 websites by Alexa, and was recently named a model for all destination websites by Arthur Frommer Travel.
