Lifestyle: The Gay / Lesbian

We have rustled up the top spots where you can shoot the breeze or dance up a storm.

Q: Where are some gay-friendly resorts I can stay at?

A: Every hotel in Vegas is welcoming to LGBT travelers, but some hotels have taken additional steps to specifically cater to that market. In early 2000 Luxor, along with MGM Resorts International, became the first Vegas resort group to market to the LGBT community. The hotel group implemented a diversity initiative across all of its properties that included training employees on how to better welcome and accommodate travelers from all cultures and backgrounds, especially the LGBT market.

Today Luxor, New York-New York, Mandalay Bayand Vdara continue to be the most popular MGM Resorts for LGBT travelers. Luxor and New York-New York offer separate pages on their websites dedicated specifically to LGBT guests. Luxor also hosts a LGBT pool party Temptation every Sunday during the summer.

If you want to be be close to many of the LGBT bars, the Hard Rock Hotel it a good choice. It's located right across the street from the gay club loop. Vegas is also home to Blue Moon. Branded the hotel for men, Blue Moon is Sin City’s only gay resort. Blue Moon offers rooms and amenities in an atmosphere that sparks fun. Their lagoon-style pool is where guests can lounge on the sun deck or take a dip. If you want to turn up the heat, head to the Jacuzzi grotto. Enclosed in a poolside cave fronted by a 15-foot by 10-foot waterfall is the 10-man Jacuzzi tub. The hotel also offers a day pass for those who want to experience the scene even if they’re not guests of the hotel.

For hotels located on the Las Vegas Strip, you might also want to try Paris Las Vegas, Wynn Las Vegas or Encore.

Q: What are the best gay clubs?

A:Gipsy is one of Vegas' best dance clubs no matter what your persuasion, rivaled only by the massive Krave,  the only "alternative" club on the Strip. They also tell us that Goodtimes and Free Zone are friendly, low-key spots. Plus, the scene is always kicking at Flex on the weekends. And we couldn't not mention 8 1/2 and Piranha , which boasts a great crowd and great service.

Q: What shows/attractions should I see while I'm here?

A: Everything! If you like your acrobatics, music and dance colored with a healthy dose of uninhibited eroticism, then Zumanity should be right up your alley. Broadway-type show lovers should be pleased with imports like Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular. If you want to combine a show and practice your shopping skills, head to The Price is Right, Live! " at Bally's. Guests 21 and older have the chance to participate in the game and try to win fabulous prizes. To see some amazing female impersonators, catch Frank Marino's Divas Las Vegas at the Imperial Palace. You'll see superstar female impersonators portraying famous divas including Britney Spears, Cher, Madonna, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross and Beyonce. Marino stars as comic icon Joan Rivers and host of the show.

Q: What about bars and restaurants?

A: Good question - everyone needs to eat and drink every now and then. For dinner or a drink, Suede Restaurant & Lounge is not to be missed. Free Zone serves up dinner after 6 p.m., and the bar's open 24 hours. There's a variety of watering holes catering to different tastes, but some of the favorites are Buffalo,   Backdoor Lounge and Spotlight. And word has it Ramrod offers top-notch drinks, music and gaming.
