This amazing guided above and below-ground mining tour takes you in a Hummer to the oldest and most famous gold mine in Southern Nevada.
The Hummer tour begins as you walk through the old Techatticup Millsite. The millsite is where ore was brought out of the mine to the stampmill, crushed into a powder and mixed in cyanide tanks where the gold and silver were then separated.
Next, it's off to the entrance of the old Savage Mine where you can explore some 500 feet deep into the side of the mountain. Once inside, you will see views deep into the veins where early miners chased silver and gold.
The Savage Mine produced millions of ounces of gold and silver during the great gold rush of the 1800s. There is a good chance that you may see native bighorn sheep or other wildlife on this tour.
The tour has only recently been opened up to the general public and is a must see for all Old West history buffs.
