Sahra Spa & Hammam at Cosmopolitan Review

A facial just for you

Designed for your skin type, the luxurious Elemental Herbology Personalized Facial incorporates products suited for your complexion.

Before your facial begins, your spa therapist will ask you questions about your skin conditions so he or she can create a blend just for you. The treatment includes a thorough (yet gentle) exfoliating facial with a Sonic electric facial brush. After your spa therapist applies an aloe mask, you'll get to experience a soothing  "cooling globe" facial massage. The cooling globes also help close the pores from the exfoliation. This, along with the heated spa bed, makes it very easy to fall asleep.

The service ends with the spa therapist gently rocking your head from side to side. The shoulders, neck and hand massage make this service even more heavenly.

You'll leave with dewy, glowing skin and a relaxed attitude. The EH facial is truly a deep cleansing treatment --  not to mention the herbal and fruity smells are enticing.

Drawing its inspiration from the beauty and stillness of the desert, Sahra Spa & Hammam at Cosmopolitan provides the ultimate calm and peaceful experience for its guests.

Walking through the 50,000-square-foot facility is like taking a hike through Zion -- without the hills and getting all sweaty and dusty. The canyon-like walls and shiny floors are made with real sandstone. In fact, the spa has a total of 420 tons of sandstone. This gives you an idea how much the spa captures the feel of the desert. In addition, the silver lining throughout the spa gives it a dramatic spark.

In the Space Between, you'll find a towering, trickling waterfall as well as a "bridge lounge" where co-ed guests can rest in between services. For couples (or a group of friends) who want to make their spa stay more personal, there are luxury spa suites as well as a spa penthouse available.

The luxurious spa penthouse is worth the indulgence. For $95 an hour (minimum of four hours), you can hang out in the same penthouse that actress Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay's Chris Martin stayed in. The penthouse spa suite includes a steam room, side-by-side dual hydrotherapy tubs, a group treatment area, private bathrooms, vanity and changing areas, a wet bar and a living room with views of the Las Vegas Strip. You can invite up to eight people and it's the ideal place for a bridal shower or a girl's day out. The penthouse also offers a complimentary fruit platter. If you'd like, you can also enjoy a mani-pedi with your friends while relaxing on the soft, plush couch in the living room area.

The smaller (yet more intimate) spa suites include a treatment area, private steam room and shower, meditation and lounge areas as well as a vanity and changing area. This is ideal for couples who want to catch up on much-needed rest and relaxation.

The spa offers treatments that draw from the richness of the desert soil, incorporating minerals and plants with powerful healing properties. The facility features 18 massage rooms, four body treatment rooms with steam showers; two body treatment rooms with hydrotherapy tubs and four facial rooms. Poolside massages are also available at the Bamboo Pool.

Both the men's and women's lounges offer an herbal steam room, sauna, cold plunge pool, a cold mist room and a wet lounge area with meditation lounge chairs. There are also two separate lounge rooms so it never feels crowded while you're waiting or relaxing after a service.

Last but not least, the hammam is available for individuals or groups of four. The hammam has similar benefits of a steam room, but doesn't get nearly as hot. In addition, there's a lot more room to stretch, relax and have more personal space as opposed to a steam room. The hammam offers a Sahra Journey experience. Here you can choose from Moroccan Rose or Malaysian Silk products, then enjoy a heat stone massage and a rich mud and honey body mask. After a bath, fruit and tea service, the treatment ends with a full-body massage. The 150-minute service is $365. This service is offered at only two other spas in the entire country.

There are two fitness facilities (one in the east hotel tower, one in the west) offering cardio equipment, free weights, a Pilates-type machine and views of the Las Vegas Strip. The gym in the west tower has a boxing ring as well as outdoor tennis courts. Instructors are available for both.

The Violet Hour salon provides separate areas for pedicures, manicures and hair treatments. There is also a coffee tea room area. The clean lines, contemporary décor and mirrors give this salon a stylish, boutique feel.

The spa and salon are located in the west tower.
