Planet Hollywood Spa by Mandara Review
Both opulent and tranquil, Planet Hollywood Spa by Mandara provides an escape from everyday life with an indulgent experience not to be forgotten.
The 32,000-square-foot sanctuary combines therapies and decor from exotic locations around the world including Bali, Tibet, Polynesia, Japan, Morocco and Thailand. Surrounded in white marble flooring, earthy colors, ornate tile work and handcrafted furnishings, guests are encouraged to check reality at the arched entryway and give in to luxury.
The spa features an extensive array of specialty treatments in six suites and 29 private therapy rooms. Some of the industry's most sought after therapies are performed here, from the Swedish Massage to Shiatsu and couples massages. The Well-Being Massage is perhaps one of the most popular massages offered at the spa. Soft to medium pressure is applied using the Ten Cultural Touches of Elemis which include the influences of Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage, Chinese Tui Na, Indian Ayurvedic and others.
Other treatments available include internal cleansing treatments, salt glows, self-tanning treatments, milk baths, exotic flower baths and dry float beds. The dry float bed is similar to a heated water bed and offers a unique alternative to the body wrap. After buffing the skin and applying soothing oils, the bed sinks down and envelops you in a cocoon of warmth and comfort.
Both the men's and women's spa areas are equipped with a lounge offering a place to relax between treatments while enjoying fruit, juices, teas, water and magazines. The men's lounge area also includes a big-screen TV. There are separate men's and women's dry saunas and steam rooms as well.
The nail and hair salons are located in separate rooms and offer complete hair and makeup services including brow and lash tinting, manicures and pedicures and full waxing services. Also on the menu of decadent indulgences are the Frangipani Conditioning Hair and Scalp Ritual and the Sole Delight Foot Treatment.
A 3,000-square-foot fitness center boasts a wide variety of equipment as well as Pilates training, body composition analysis and personal trainers. Another unique feature is the Alpha Massage Capsule which combines a dry heat sauna, massage and aromatherapy to soothe and stimulate the senses.
A small boutique located in the facility carries robes, body products, jewelry and books to help patrons continue pampering themselves once their visit to the spa has come to an end.
Guests can also purchase a 1-, 3- or 5-day day passes, allowing complete use of the gymnasium, sauna, steam and showering facilities.
