Show Review

Win big fun

By Caroline Fontein

Jerry Springer will host May 16 – 31; June 1 – 6.

Come on down to The Price is Right, Live! in Las Vegas. More than 50 years after the television game show started, fans can enjoy a live version of the show on the Las Vegas strip. Apart from TV host Drew Carey, the show has all of the charm and excitement of watching the real thing, but here you have a chance to actually participate and win a prize.

Everything from Hole in One to Plinko, Cliffhanger and even former TV host Bob Barker's beauties are incorporated in the The Price is Right, Live!. In fact, some of the set pieces used in the Vegas show are from the TV version. Many of the prizes are similar to what fans know from seeing the TV show. On the day the show was attended, contestants won cash, a cruise to Mexico and a digital camera.

The Price is Right, Live! has a rotating line-up of special guest hosts including Joey Fatone ("Dancing with the Stars," NSync) and well-known TV personality Jerry Springer. Check the schedule to see who'll be hosting when you plan to attend.

Guests must be 18 years of age or older to enter to be a contestant. There's a booth located near the theater where guests who are interested in playing can register before the show. Guests who register will get the signature yellow name tag that everyone recognizes.

Video clips that highlight memorable moments from The Price is Right are played throughout the show. The video clips get people excited and remind guests to let loose and go wild when they here their name and Bob Barker's signature catch phrase, "Come on Down." With more that 6,000 episodes The Price is Right has had its fare share of memorable guests.

Even if your name is not called to play you still have a chance to win. Guest's names are called out throughout the show to win rewards points just for being there. You don't have to play, but you still get a prize. Rewards points can be used towards dining or entertainment at Bally's or one of the other Harrah's properties. More than 50 guests have the opportunity to leave the showroom with a prize.

Toward the end of the show, The Big Wheel is rolled out and three people are called on stage to spin and win. As participants spin the wheel, everyone in the audience watches and waits in suspense of whether or not the wheel will stop at the right time. If you enjoy the rush of emotions experienced while watching the show on television, just imagine the possibilities if you were actually in the audience watching it live.

For The Showcase, guest names are selected at random so everyone has a change to play and win even if you've already been called down to contestants' row.

After the show ends, every guest is invited to stick around for the Big Wheel Experience, where you can spin the iconic wheel. This can be purchased for $20 in the theater, directly after the show. For the Big Wheel Experience guests get to go on stage, spin the wheel and get a t-shirt. They can also take photos in from the wheel with their own cameras. At the The Price is Right, Live! the prizes are big and so is the fun.
