One of the most beloved "American Idol" winners of all time, Taylor Hicks brings his soulful music to Vegas. He's the first Idol to land a gig as a headliner on the Las Vegas Strip.
For Hicks, performing in Vegas is also coming full circle with his experience on the hit TV show. Hicks was in New Orleans the night before Hurricane Katrina. His flight out was cancelled, and he was given a free airplane voucher. He used the voucher to fly to Vegas, where coincidentally "American Idol" auditions were being held. He auditioned and was later voted as the winner of the show's fifth season.
Hicks' unique style and song choices made him an instant hit on the TV show. His distinct sound combines Southern soul, R&B, country and blues. When he was on the show, more than 63 million votes were cast and nearly 37 million viewers tuned in to crown Hicks the season five winner, making the show one of the most watched TV events of the decade.
Since winning "American Idol," Hicks has performed with countless big names in music including Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Gladys Knight, The Allman Brothers and Earth, Wind & Fire. He has performed in concerts around the world and released his autobiography "Heart Full of Soul."
Hicks also performed on Broadway as Teen Angel in the musical "Grease." His self-titled first album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and went on to be certified platinum.
