CeeLo brings the bling to Vegas
Staff Report
Singer/songwriter and rap superstar CeeLo Green takes audiences on a spectacular musical journey in his show LOBERACE at Planet Hollywood. As the conductor and ringmaster of the show, CeeLo makes stops at legendary moments in music from Prince to Blue Magic, The Rolling Stones, Liberace, new wave, disco and beyond.
More spectacle than show, the production combines CeeLo’s flamboyant sense of style and creativity magnified with his soulful voice. He performs covers of his favorite music along with original songs. Part dance party, part live intimate concert, the show is a personification of all the glamorous attributes that have become CeeLo's signature.
In true Vegas fashion the show also features mind-twisting magic, sexy showgirls, extravagant costumes and impressive stage design that are more indulgent that anything the sequin-styled international lady killer has done so far.
CeeLo Green Now a successful solo artist, Green first gained a following as a member of the Atlanta-based hip-hop group Goodie Mob. Green was a founding member of the group that also consisted of Big Gipp, T-Mo and Khujo. Their debut album, "Soul Food," was released in 1995 and laid a foundation for the Southern rap scene emerging at the time.
The album featured a distinct Southern sound crafted by Organized Noize, the same production team behind OutKast's "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik." Green garnered praise and attention as a singer and rapper for his performance on the album's hit singles "Cell Therapy" and "Soul Food." Green left the group to pursue a solo career while they were making their third album, "World Party" released in 1998.
Green was featured as a solo artist on Santana's "Supernatural" album released in 1999. His first solo album "Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections" was released in 2002, followed by a second album "Cee-Lo Green… Is the Soul Machine" released in 2004. The album featured collaborations with Ludacris, T.I. and Pharrell Williams. Various producers worked on the album including Timbaland, The Neptunes and Jazze Pha. Green's song, "I'll Be Around," produced by Timbaland, was released as a single along with "The One," which featured Jazze Pha and T.I.
After moderate success as a solo artist, Green joined the group Gnarls Barkely with Danger Mouse. Green released two albums with the group. Their first album, "St. Elsewhere" came out in 2006 and featured the single "Crazy." The title was a perfect description for fans' reactions. Both the song and the album were a huge success, propelling the group to international stardom. The song is the first single to top the U.K. singles chart based on just download sales. In 2009 Rolling Stone voted "Crazy" as the best song of the decade. That album was followed by "The Odd Couple" released in 2008.
Two years later, Green took over the airwaves again with "F*** You," released in 2010. Due to a partial leak, Green decided to release the song on YouTube before his new album, "The Lady Killer" came out. The decision worked in Green's favor as "Crazy" instantly went viral with more than 2 million plays in less than one week. The song garnered five Grammy nominations.
Green's incredible success landed him a spot as a judge for the hit NBC show "The Voice," a reality TV show where singers compete for a cash prize and record deal. Green is one of the judges on the show along with fellow music artists, including Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and country music artist Blake Shelton.
In addition to being a TV personality, Green continues to release new music. He collaborated with producer Jazze Pha on the album "Happy Hour." Three songs from the album have already been released as singles including "Man of the Hour," "Disco B****" and "Happy Hour."
