Guests at B.B. King's Blues Club get more than just a taste of Southern-style cookin.' They also get a hearty helping of live entertainment. The club features a rotating lineup of live bands that perform in the evenings. There’s no better way to enjoy some “famous lip-smacking ribs” or a roasted chicken dinner than while listening to songs by artists like Otis Redding, Ray Charles and of course, B.B. King.
Dinner seating for this show begins an hour before the live entertainment starts, giving guests an opportunity to get seated and order their meal before the performers take the stage. Almost every seat in the restaurant has a good view of the stage. There are three bars in the main restaurant area and another one located by the main entrance. For guests who want to do more than just sing along from their table, a dance floor in front of the stage offers a place for the crowd to get down and get funky. The three-course Classic Soul Dinner menu includes a choice of either salad or gumbo to start with and your choice of either Carolina BBQ salmon, B.B. King's "famous lip-smacking ribs," a seven-ounce USDA filet mignon or the roasted chicken dinner. For dessert the menu features banana bread pudding. The portion sizes are generous, and the food is prepared with comfort in mind. You won't find any bells and whistles here, just friendly service, satisfying entrees and a casual atmosphere that facilitates great music and good times.
The live entertainment changes almost every night of the week. The main acts, The Memphis All-Stars and The Grant Garland Trio, perform on the weekends. Each band has its own style, but they all play classic, upbeat songs that make people want to clap their hands and get up and dance.
On the night the show was attended the band performing played covers of hit songs including: "Lady's Night" (Kool and the Gang), "Brick House" (Rick James), "Return of the Mack" (Mark Morrison) and "No Diggity" (Blackstreet). The band performs while food is being served, creating a vibrant backdrop for dining. After finishing their meals some guests clapped and grooved along to the music in their seats while others got up and made their way to the dance floor. There's no barrier between you and the music. Hearing the person talk next to you can be a little challenging, but who goes to a dinner and show at a place named after a blues legend for the conversation?
If you have a hankering for some Southern comfort food paired with great live entertainment, B.B. Kings Classic Soul Dinner and Show delivers.
