Hawaiian Marketplace Review

The 80,000-square-foot Hawaiian Marketplace brings a taste of island-style shopping to Vegas.

Modeled after the International Marketplace in Honolulu, the outdoor shopping center features lush tropical plants and bright colors.

The market is made up of several stand-alone cart vendors surrounding nine anchor stores that offer a variety of clothing, jewelry, swim wear, purses, luggage, cowboy hats, paintings, gifts and souvenirs. Visitors can also get temporary tattoos or get their hair braided. The market is covered by an awning, which helps to keep things a bit cooler. There are also several misting fans that help beat the heat. To rest those tired, sore feet, a reflexology area is available.

From Friday through Sunday, patrons can enjoy a free show by The Birdman of Las Vegas from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. The Birdman brings his feathered friends including macaws, eagles, cranes, cockatoos, owls and even a 10-foot wingspan condor, to name a few. In addition to sharing his bird stunts, The Birdman also educates the audience on these species.

Hawaiian Marketplace offers plenty of food choices for hungry shoppers, including China Star Buffet, Kapit Bahay (Filipino fast food), Tamba (an Indian cuisine restaurant) and Zingers, which offers traditional American food at reasonable prices. For those craving cold refreshments and smoothies, Hawaiian Marketplace also has a stand that serves everything from ice cream and milkshakes to Boba drinks and chai tea.

If you're driving, there is a small parking lot next door to the shopping center. If you're looking for more parking, try the Polo Towers public parking lot or better yet, valet park at the Polo Towers' side entrance and you'll be just steps away from the stores.

Vegas may be a long way from Hawaii, but the Hawaiian Marketplace helps bring the atmosphere of the tropics to the desert.
