Origin India is a small culinary gem located across from the Hard Rock Hotel and just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. If you're craving something exotic, Executive Chef Vinod Kumar Ahuja will create delicious Indian cuisine in an upscale environment.

The dining room is elegant with dark brown leather chairs and curved archways. Toward the back of the room, two larger round tables in either corner are partitioned with overhead canopies and soft white curtains. The use of candles throughout the restaurant gives the space a warm, inviting energy and the soft palette of greens and browns adds to the natural vibe. Splashes of red liven the place up and remind you you're in a restaurant that serves food with lots of spice and flavor -- foods like the chicken tikka, a traditional Indian dish with smoky notes of cumin.

Origin India offers guests a variety of dishes to choose from. Appetizers include the Aloo Papri Chaat -- wheat wafers layered with potatoes, garbanzo beans, yogurt and chutneys. The Mulligatawany soup is a tasty lentil soup garnished with chicken and rice.

A wide variety of fish, chicken, lamb and goat entrees are available. The Chicken Mukhani is a rich, slightly spicy tandoori chicken tikka in a tomato and cream sauce, finished with butter.

Some of the more complex dishes mix bold flavors together like baby eggplant with Hyderabadi sesame, peanut sauce, curry leaves, mustard seeds, spicy red chiles and lemon rice.

For those who don't eat meat, there are many vegetarian dishes available including palak paneer, achari broccoli and malai kofta.

Fluffy naan bread is served still warm out of the tandoori oven. Choose from a variety of flavors including garlic, onion and cheese and chili. You can also find nan stuffed with apricots and raisins or with ground lamb.

Attached to the main dining area is a bar, where you can try creative concoctions like the ginger raspberry martini and strawberry basil martini, made using fresh fruits, herbs and spices.

Origin India is a great place to try if you need your Indian food fix. The elegant ambiance, comforting cuisine and friendly service makes the restaurant worthy of your "to visit" list.
