Rated 4 out of 5 by angelac1313 How to WOW your friends!
My husband and I planned a 25th Anniversary/Birthday/StarTrek Convention trip August 3 – 11. We chose the Wynn so that people would think-WOW when we talked about our trip over the years.
Upon arrival at the Wynn, the taxi dropped us at the island in front - not the actual door step. We sent the bellhop away because we never need assistance with 4 rolling bags. He rolled away quickly and we were completely alone when we arrived at the “Pull to Open” doors. We couldn’t believe the entrance didn’t have a revolving door. After some struggle in getting through the doors, we looked for the check in sign and completely missed the entranceway filled with flowers and a hot-air balloon. We found a person standing in front of a doorway that was the check-in area. No line, no queue, no barricades. It was weird. Just standing there with this guy until an agent was available to assist. It was a short wait and the agent was helpful. After a brief discussion about why we were there and the last time we visited, we were offered a room with a view of the strip on the 52nd floor. (No additional offer of assistance for our bags…) Upon arrival at the entrance, security was there to see that we had a card to a room. We REALLY liked this! It’s very comforting to know that not just anyone is allowed into the elevators. However, the elevators were HOT. Once we arrived at our room, we were not completely overwhelmed initially. I guess after all the research I did; I thought I was getting something else larger. Once we realized that we didn’t book the larger more expensive room, we looked around and were quite satisfied. There was not just a bed but a couch, a set of chairs with a table for dining and even a desk. Upon further review – we pushed the button for ALL ON and the drapes opened to reveal the most beautiful site we have ever seen! The strip, the mountains and the sky! Just amazing! Totally worth all the initial disappointments.
Since we were staying for a long period of time (8 nights), we had a lot of unpacking to do. There were only 3 drawers in the dresser. Each nightstand had 2 drawers and a small drawer. All our clothes had to be separated among those pieces of furniture and then I actually had to hang our pants in the closet. The greatest disappointment was the snacks and refrigerator. There is no room at all in the fridge. I know I could have requested a separate fridge but my understanding was that it would be $25 a night. We just filled one of the 2 sinks several times a day with ice and filled it with water and juices from CVS. It was an inconvenience but better than paying $5.00 for one can of soda! The snacks would have been torture if we didn’t get our own! Can’t imagine the will power involved if you brought kids with you! Next time, I will ask about removing all those things.
Overall, the beauty of the hotel shines through. Fresh flowers everywhere, glass statues, waterfalls. Its quite amazing. Keep in mind though that this is a high class hotel. Prepare to wear nice clothes even to the buffet. You will stick out and get turned away if you are not wearing shoes, nice slacks, dresses and sleeves.

Too long to describe the issues. Everything takes "twice" to get it done at the Wynn. Plain and simply, the service and 1/2 the personnel of this very expensive hotel leave a lot to be desired. Thus, we will never return here. Not to play and definitely not to stay. So long Mr. Wynn.

Rated 4 out of 5 by golf18 It is a desirable product, especially its golf field.
The decor at Wynn is average, and its location is a little off the strip. It has a lot of parking spaces which is excellent.

Vegas.com did an amazing job. Our hotel was great, we stayed at The Wynn for 4 nights. The location was perfect on the strip as we were within walking distance to almost everywhere. The staff were great, the pool was great, the casino was great. The only complaint I have with the hotel was that our TV did not work the entire time we were there. We were only in our hotel room to sleep, so it wasn't a big deal but when we called to have it fixed the staff just told us we just need to give it more time and it will turn on. Never turned on. Called the desk again but no one ever came to fix it.
My problem with the trip was the ride home. We arrived at the airport 2 hours before our 8:15pm flight to L.A. to connect to our flight home to Nashville, TN. After boarding our plane we sat on the runway for close to an hour after being told to deboard and remove our luggage because we were going to possibly be moved to another plane. After waiting another hour in the terminal the airline (American) told us the flight would be cancelled as they were no longer having flights this evening. We went back to the checking desk to get another flight out and found a connecting flight to Charlotte, NC at 7:30 in the morning. We went to AA and asked them to help us find a hotel (because everywhere we called was booked solid in Vegas). They denied any help for us. We finally found a hole-in-the-wall hotel for $80. We told the airline and told them we needed transportation to and from the hotel since our flight wasn't till in the morning. They, again, denied any assistance. So this was another $40 for a taxi to and from the hotel. Got back to the air port at 5:30am for our 7:30 flight and tried getting our boarding passes and neither of our names were found in the system. Tried multiple times with no result. Called AA customer service as I did the night before and the clerk told me we had been removed from the flight all together. When I asked why she said she didn't know but the flight was now completely full and we could no longer board this flight. We were then added onto a flight at 11:30 for Charlotte. Once again, no apologies or assistance from AA. We went to our gate to wait 6 hours for our flight. Beginning at about 10 our flight kept getting delayed and delayed further because the plane that was in our gate had a light bulb malfunctioning and they could not find a mechanic. This was before noon on Vegas... Pretty sure they could complete their 1 hour flight before needing the light bulb. So I went to the counter and told them we needed to switch flights because, with our new delays, we would not make our connecting flight to get home. She they added is onto another flight that was delayed but was schedules to fly out 40 minutes before our current flight. So this flight took off about 1 hour 20 minutes late. This flight landed in Dallas, TX at 6:10 and our flight to Nashville was leaving at 6:30. As we tried pulling into our gate, the captain came over the intercom and stated we were unable to pull into the gate because there is a plane currently occupying the gate that "wasn't supposed to be there". We finally pulled into the gate after an extra 20 minute wait and sprinted down the terminal to get on the Skyline train to our other terminal. As we were on the train, I got an alert that our flight has just left without us. So again, we were in line for another ticket for yet, another flight. The next flight home was at 9:25pm. Again, no assistance from AA or apologies. We boarded this plane and finally got home around 1am. We spent a total of 30 hours in the airport with no help from the airline. Blisters on our feet from the constant switching of gates/terminals/times. Living on sodas and snack machines because airport food is too expensive to live on for every meal. Oh I almost forgot, because of all of the delays we had to kennel our lab an extra 2 days for $70 per night. Again no assistance from the airline. The reason I rated this trip as average is because of the airline experience, not because of The Wynn, or Vegas in general. If we would have chosen another airline I would rate this trip much higher. They turned a great vacation into the worst travel experience I have ever had.
