Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 878 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor service and "resort amenities" First of all the room was ok, rust and peeling wall paper was a slight distraction. We purchased the Buffet special good at all Cesar properties. However, forgot to mention that not all properties didn't service breakfast, so we had to spend additional fund on top of the $140. The second issue was the "Resort Fee" we paid 67 for this so called fee. For what? We stayed Sun -Wed, there were no lounge acts, no music what so ever. We stayed at the pool for 3 hours, for 4 towels? Oh we had access to the gym. I pay less that 20 per month for mine. We visited multiple hotels that had performances to watch. LASTLY. The hotel charged us $811 for room damages. Without asking, they ASSUMED that we damage the room, and made a big issue, when all it was was water, H20.... Really. They caused us multiple financial issues because of this. I have been to Vegas for several decades, this by far was the WORST experience I have ever had, sad part it was my wife and I first visit, and last...... April 20, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Stay Away The room was the only thing about this hotel that was worth my time. There is a shuttle service to The Strip, but the hours of opreation are rediculous, 10am-1am. This makes it imposible to do any late night Strip stuff, unless you wanna cab-it. The big problem with the shuttle service was that during my visit, April 14-18, there was construction on the shuttle route to Bally's so the average wait for the shuttle was 40 minutes or more. I doubt that the Management at the Rio didn't know this was coming and thier response to the resulting delay of the service was to do NOTHING!!! Bring on a second bus? No! We'll just leave our guests standing on the sidewalk waiting for the bus. Twice in three trips to the Strip, I was left behind to wait for another shuttle because the first was full. Over an hour waiting for a shuttle with no bench to sit on. Nice. I like to take a four or five hour break from the casino. Kinda tough to do if you have to stand around waiting for a shuttle. I would stay away from this highly over rated property and spend my money on a much more convienient Strip location. April 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great since we were there for Penn & Teller We didn't use the pool so it really wasn't fair to rate it but I had to in order to post a review....it looked nice when I walked by...heh The room we had was shabby...but I loved it because it was a corner room so we had windows on two sides, one which faced the strip and was pretty to look out of at night. One of the sideboard tiles was gently sitting against the wall, the carpet was torn in a few areas, the wallpaper peeling a bit from one side of the room and with a few obvious holes from possibly the TV or shelving having been moved, BUT everything was clean -albeit run-down. The sheets and towels were a brilliant white (smelled of bleach), floors were definitely vacuumed/washed, and there was no dust. The customer service was very good, all my luggage was brought up quickly and all was there. The room service we ordered also came up within the time they stated. Bummer was (we haven't stayed in a hotel for awhile) that the coffee is no longer free. Nor are those K-cups (Keurig) cheap. The Starbucks downstairs had a ridiculous line so we ended up buying the K-cups just to get us going (hour+ wait at Starbucks...no thanks). We didn't spend much time in the room but it was pleasant when we were there. The room price is misleading as the "hotel fees" are per day fees regardless of whether or not you use the services (spa and wi-fi). Vegas.com mentions it though, but they are not clear on the price per day as this is apparently something fairly new that the Vegas hotels are charging. This makes the price per day severely misleading. The wi-fi connection was a bit confusing too as it mentions a $13.99 charge for connecting to it and it wasn't clear whether or not that was on top of the hotel fees or just a pop-up they need to remove in order to stop freaking out the hotel guests. I recommend it as it is a nice place to sleep and it's where Penn & Teller are - which is what we came to Vegas to see. April 17, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Who wants an alarm every hour starting at dawn?? The train kept waking us up Sunday morning. The room we were given was smoking optional but they recommended no smoking. The room smelled like a cigar lounge! We had to buy a candle in the gift shop. The blow dryer was broken and there were no USB outlets any where. Time for a well over due upgrade on the 27th floor. We decided to stay Sunday night due to traffic but went next door to Gold Coast. Best decision we made!!! April 17, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by too confusing with hidden charges I found the hotel very confusing and got lost trying to find my way around at least I got lots of exercise. Also there where a lot of hidden charges that I got charged when checking out. I paid for the room ahead of time and thought it was all paid for then when checking out found out there was a lot of so called resort fees and I was charged 20 dollars for checking in early no other hotel has ever done this to me! I won't go there again!! April 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The room was a pleasant surprise I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to the VIP level upon check-in. The room was unbelievable! My only disappointment is that I didn't have more time to spend in it. Lovely. April 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great pools, great room Loved the pool scenery and the room was large with a mini fridge and mini bar fridge. Bed was comfortable. April 13, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Featues listed on Vegas.com are not accurate The room was great! Very large and comfortable. But the one feature I was looking forward to was the big walk in shower. To my surprise that feature listed in the room I booked on Vegas.com was not really a standard feature that the Rio offers for that room. I would like Vegas.com to provide better ACCURATE room description or offer a $$$ back offer if those features listed are not true. I am hesitant to book again on this site due to the inaccuracy of the room descriptions. April 13, 2014

Answer:
Getting from the Rio to the Las Vegas Strip on foot is just under a two-mile walk. A better option may be to take advantage of the Rio's shuttle service to Harrah's and Bally's both located on the Strip. The shuttle pick-up location is near the entrance to the Carnival buffet at Rio. The shuttle runs daily from 10 a.m. - 1 a.m.

Answer:
Hi,
You can specify a non-smoking room during the booking process; however, please be aware that the selection is not guaranteed and if you are checking in late on a night when the hotel is booked, there is a possibility that the only rooms left available are those that allow smoking. Also, even though hotel rooms are designated as smoking or non-smoking, there is always the possibility that a previous guest smoked where they weren't supposed to. If you have any concerns after checking in, you can ask to speak with a hotel manager to correct the situation. Hope this helps.
