Standing 725 feet above the Colorado River, Hoover Dam is a sight not to be missed. You'll learn about the construction of this great wonder, plus the rich history of agony and accomplishment that made it all possible. Included in this package is an additional guided tour at the dam's visitor center that will take you to the generator room on the Nevada side and give you access to the exhibits in the visitor's center.
If you're short on time, try the Hoover Dam Express Tour. You'll have two full hours at the dam, and your step-on guide will be available to assist you throughout your trip. The specially designed express tour gives you comfort in a customized vehicle that includes oversized windows, extended headroom and a TV/VCR, on which you'll view a complimentary movie about the construction of the dam. This excursion includes the Discovery Tour of Hoover Dam, which showcases special features such as educational films, the exhibit gallery, observation deck, Nevada intake tower and the old exhibit building.
Just minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip lies Red Rock Canyon, one of the Mojave Desert's most beautiful areas. The tour takes visitors into Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, a working ranch nestled at the base of the dramatic Wilson Cliffs, which was once owned by eccentric millionaire Howard Hughes. The trip continues to the Red Rock National Conservation area with a stop at the visitor center followed by a leisurely lap around the 13-mile scenic loop with breaks at the amazing red and cream sandstone Calico Hills, limestone Indian roasting pits and the pictographs at Willow Springs. Enjoy brief stops along the way as your knowledgeable tour guide walks you through the fragile and fascinating history of the desert. |
