TAO Beach Review
Tucked in the back corner of the pool area at Venetian, entering Tao Beach is like stepping into a lush, secluded oasis -- except it's not so quiet. Ladies, make sure you have your bathing suit, sunglasses and high heels ready.
With a live DJ spinning the latest in hip-hop and dance tracks right in the center of the pool club, the energy takes a hold of you no matter where you are. And while you're technically in the middle of the desert, you'll feel like you're on a tropical island with the pool club's Balinese-inspired ambiance. The 40-foot-tall bamboo trees make it even more legit. With music and paradise, you really got the best of both worlds. Oh, and let's not forget the fact you can jump into one of the pools to cool off from all the dancing.
In addition to the day beds scattered throughout the 18,000-square-foot area, there are also plenty of lounge chairs available for you to lie down and work on your tan. But who are we kidding? Most people here are dancing are on top of their chairs anyway.
If you're thinking of reserving one of the 12 cabanas, you'll get to enjoy air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with gaming consoles, DVDs, WiFi and a mini-bar. Staff members add to the pampering with sunglass cleaning and body misting services. A masseuse is also available. And with the way the cabanas are set up, you won't miss any of the pool action. If you plan on coming with a large group that will take up more than one cabana, you can draw back curtains between the huts to make it one big party area.
All the dancing and drinking got your hungry? While barbecuing is ideal at your average pool party, believe us when we tell you the food here is far from ordinary. An extensive appetizer, sushi and grill menu from Tao Asian Bistro is available daily from 11a.m. - 6 p.m. Refreshing favorites include the lemon and ginger-sprinkled edamame and spring veggie rolls. Oh, and the strawberry mojito isn't too shabby, either.
But the fun doesn't stop once the sun sets. During Saturday nights, paradise transforms to a party underneath the stars. Four, 14-foot-tall fire columns and upbeat music help set the mood for all you nocturnal party-goers. Serving as an extension of Tao nightclub, you can enjoy the luxury of bottle service in one of the cabanas. Or if you just want to get a breath of fresh air, that's OK too. Reserve a daybeds to catch up with old friends (or spend time getting to know new ones).
If you're a fan of electronica, house, trance and anything dance music-related, the pool club hosts Beatport Beach Party every Sunday. DJs switch up every weekend, so make sure you come back more than once.
Getting in is a snap: If you're coming from the parking garage, you'll see a Tao Beach kiosk across from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Get your hand stamped and walk a few steps to the hotel elevators, located on your right side. Follow the signs to Tao Beach. Walk past the general pool area and head toward the back.
While you may not make that trip to Bali this year, Tao Beach certainly comes close.
