Sin City Brewing Co. Review
Of the many different variations of bars in the world (dive bar, country bar, scary bar), there is one type of bar so unique that it only comes along a few times in every city. This is the bar that's both a destination bar (one you'd go out of your way for) and a convenient bar (one you stop at because it's in the same spot you are). Representing this rare breed in Las Vegas is the Sin City Brewing Company.
Located inside the Flamingo, Sin City Brewing Co. is a pretty easy stop to make, especially if you're at the hotel or in the area already. But no one cares about another convenient bar, they want the bars they'd make a special trip for and, like we said, Sin City is one of those, too. Mostly because of the beer.
Oh, did we forget to mention Sin City's a microbrewery here in town? If it wasn't evident from the name, at least you know now. And what a microbrew it is.
The true test of things in Vegas is whether locals will get on board, too. Sure, it's easy to sell Sin City-branded beer to visitors in town, but if the locals are seeking it out too, you've got something special on your hands.
The bar in the Flamingo (there's a much smaller outpost in the Miracle Mile Shops in Planet Hollywood) serves up all four varieties -- Weisse, Blonde, Amber, Stout -- of the beer and it's not unusual to see a tourist from Idaho knocking back a pint next to a Vegas local, like, say, a nightlife writer's beer-loving father.
Plus, if you're not a beer drinker, but are being squired around town by one, you could do much worse than spending an afternoon at Sin City Brew Co. There are margarita machines and drinks other than beer readily available and the outside patio overlooks the Flamingo pool area. On a warm day, surrounded by the palm trees and pools, well, it's pretty much the definition of vacation.
There are a few inside tables, too, plus bar seating, and if you enjoyed the beer or your day, take a look around the edges of the bar -- there's Sin City Brewing Co. merchandise available, like pint glasses and shirts.
And if you see that nightlife writer's father, send him home. My mom misses him.
