Pete's Dueling Piano Bar Review
There are few things closer to the hearts of visitors and locals alike than the dueling piano bar. Generally located in hotels or tiny bars scattered throughout the city, the lure of dueling pianos is usually too much to bear -- and, night after night, these places end up packed.
It makes sense then that one of the most revered names in dueling piano joints has found its way to Vegas. Pete's Dueling Piano Bar opened up in Town Square in November 2009 and the crowds haven't strayed since.
Taking up a space that isn't small, but isn't huge either, Pete's is laid out intuitively. The pianos (two, of course) are at the front, with bars on either side of the room. There's outdoor seating, but the real action is at any of the round tables scattered on the bar floor. There's also a bar rail running around the perimeter for extra seating -- and it's worth it grab a seat if you can because Pete's fills up quick. (You might even want to make a reservation: (702) 220-7383).
Around 7 p.m. each night, the action starts. Two of Pete's four piano players take their seats at the keys and the night begins in earnest. Going back and forth on requests, the musicians play selections from all over the place, including requests. To make a request, guests can scribble it on a napkin and leave it with a tip (they're appreciated) on top of either piano. (Pro tip: it's rumored that $20 will get your song on right away, if you're really hankering to hear something quick.)
It's not just the piano players and those who make requests that get involved though -- on an average night at least half the bar will sing and clap along, making Pete's more like a house party with all your friends than a place where you just go for a night.
