There are lots of things in our lives that don't make sense, but we just go with it: tall guys married to short girls, global warming, the internet, Paris Hilton's fame and politics.
How about an ice bar in the desert?
Not only does Las Vegas feature one ice bar, but now there are two, thanks to the addition of a second Minus 5 location inside the Monte Carlo.
So while it's 115 degrees on the Strip with miles of tourists not making the situation any better, you can escape the heat and step inside a bar that features ice as the main attraction.
There are ice sofas, ice sculptures, ice walls and even ice cups. Sure, unless you're from Hades, you wouldn't think there was any place in Vegas worth putting a jacket on for, but that's half the fun at Minus 5.
Depending on what package you spring for you can dress like the beer guy who stocks the product at your neighborhood grocery store or like Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie "Red Heat," complete with a furry hat.
Of course, with all the icy conditions it's only fitting to pair Minus 5 up with vodka. There are plenty of vodka-infused specialty drinks here and the perk is that you get to keep your glass. But after a few minutes in the desert climate, you'll just have a wet hand to show for it.
What makes this location unique is that it is an all-ice bar. The Mandalay Bay location is smaller and features another bar outside, but here it's either cool down inside or watch smiling patrons come in and out while you debate whether to go in.
So while you may still be scratching your head about the ice bar in the desert, does it really matter if an experience as cool as this makes sense? After all, Vegas is in the middle of a desert and that hasn't stopped you from coming.
