Martini Ranch

According to the drink menu at Martini Ranch, the inspiration for the bar came from the San Antonio Dancing and Social Club, a Texas speakeasy that operated back in the days of prohibition. Locals who frequented the joint affectionately called it the "Martini Ranch."

Now you can enjoy the same atmosphere and abundance of alcohol at Texas Station and "you don't even need a password."

Martini Ranch, as the name suggests, features ranch-style decor including leather armchairs, a fireplace (complete with a Texas longhorn head hanging above it) and high ceilings with wooden rafters.

One unique touch is the glass chandeliers hanging throughout the bar. At the center of each is an olive, surrounded by martini glasses.

In case you haven't guessed, the martini is the drink of choice at this bar. The extensive menu boasts gin martinis, vodka martinis, fruit flavored martinis, dessert flavored martinis like peppermint, chocolate and vanilla, and specialty martinis. If you have a strong stomach, try the Texas Martini, made with Sauza tequila and tabasco, garnished with a jalapeno.

Although the martinis aren't cheap -- they're priced at $7.50 and up -- you will get your money's worth. These drinks pack quite a punch.

If you're not a martini fan, don't despair. Well drinks are available for $3.25 and domestic beers sell for about $2.50. The bar also features Gordon Biersch bottled beers for $2.

If all that alcohol gives you the munchies, custom appetizers are also available at Martini Ranch, from Mesquite-smoked shrimp to hand-tossed pizzas.
