Luckily you don't have to know a secret password to get into 1923 Bourbon & Burlesque, a speakeasy-style bar at Mandalay Bay. You do need to know where to look for it though. The bar is tucked away just off the escalator on the ground floor at the entrance to The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, but you didn't hear it from us.
This intimate and glamourous joint has 15 VIP tables and can accommodate up to 325 people. There's also a 25-person cigar room with a humidor that boasts premium hand-rolled stogies.
Near the entrance is a walk-up bar surrounded by brickwork and barrels of whiskey. You'll also spot a classic automobile from the Roaring Twenties. The Gatsby-esque vibe is further evoked by dark wood accents, plush banquettes and dim lighting provided by elegant chandeliers.
One of the signature drinks from the bar's Prohibition Era-inspired mixology program is the 1923 Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned made with Bulleit Bourbon, Amaro Nonino and Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao. On the cocktail menu, you'll also discover hand-crafted libations like the gin fizz from the most popular speakeasies of the 1920s and custom barrel-aged whiskeys. Sip your drink while listening to the smooth sounds of jazz vocalist Sky Dee Miles.
The hottest thing about this illicit drinking den is the glamorous burlesque revue "Bourbon Burlesque." The sensual production, which is being showcased on Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 10:30 p.m. (a cover charge of $20 will apply), features steamy striptease vignettes.
