Freakin' Frog Review

Bringing the college bar up a level, into a whole new, (slightly) more sophisticated realm is no easy feat, but the Freakin' Frog isn't exactly your ordinary college bar.

Located just beyond the main buildings of the University of Nevada Las Vegas' campus, theĀ Freakin' Frog is an easy choice for final-exam-plagued students, but because of its other unique offerings, it's become a prime watering hole for more than just refugees from academia.

Among the Frog's offerings are a beer selection that's nearly unmatched on this coast. With more than 700 beers, you can find nearly anything you're looking for -- nearly because we're still holding out for Yuengling.

The Frog also gets in its share of live music acts, so much so that performing there is almost something of a rite of passage for local bands. The stage is sizable and it doesn't have the cramped feel of other bars doubling as music venues.

There's also the Whisky Attic, a formerly members-only thing in the upstairs space that boasts, well, whisky, among other things as a perk. It's open to the public now and definitely worth checking out.

As an added bonus, you can also grab something to eat at the Frog, which means it can double as more than just a nighttime bar -- in fact, it's not unusual to see a meeting or two being conducted at one of the Frog's many tables.

If you stay in Vegas long enough, you're sure to end up at the Freakin' Frog at some point, so do yourself a favor and go now. The sooner you get there, the sooner you can start working your way through all that beer.
