VooDoo Lounge Review
Vegas is full of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. There's the entire plastic football of beer you drank downtown, there's the meal you ate that cost more than your college apartment and there's your trip to VooDoo Lounge.
It might not immediately seem like VooDoo is going to be something different than you've ever seen before. It's a nightclub, sure, and they have those wherever you're from. But trust us, it's different. In fact, VooDoo is different from any spot in Vegas, too, which is worth noting because VooDoo was at the forefront of Sin City's current club craze.
First, there's just getting into the club. Most clubs you take some stairs or just walk right up, right? VooDoo is a 51-story elevator ride away and it's not some sort of stuffy office elevator. It's a glass-walled box that climbs up and down the side of the Rio, offering a view of the city that'll be unmatched – at least until you get to the club itself.
The club's insides are all dark, sexy colors and candlelight accents.
There are booths of all sizes and flair bartenders and more than a few spots to dance the night away.
In fact, there's enough to do and see inside that you could spend your whole night in there – but we wouldn't recommend it. The biggest feather in VooDoo's cap looks like an American flag and it waves from the tippy-top of a staircase connecting the 50 and 51st floors.
To miss the flag, the staircase, the view and your newest Facebook photo is like skipping dessert or some other cliché where you lose out on the best part of something.
The staircase, just to put things in perspective, weighs 40 tons. This isn't some fly-by-night photo opportunity, this is a massive, actual way of getting between two floors (the VooDoo restaurant is on the lower one).
Once you get over the staircase (and, in our experience there's usually one person in every group who never does – either spending the whole night photo-bombing people or just trying to work up the courage to get on it), there's a whole other section of the club outside on the patio.
Equipped with a view even better than you can imagine (the whole city is laid out around you), the patio also has bars, VIP areas, a DJ booth, a dance floor and even a stripper pole.
It's definitely enough to make a whole, long night out of it. Unfortunately, you're going to have to leave at some point. And here's the best piece of advice you'll get about VooDoo – that's a long elevator ride for the drunkest among you and the view's too good to waste in a martini glass, so save the all-out bender for someplace else – your stomach (and your friends) will thank you.
