Rockhouse Bar and Nightclub Review

Some of the best parties in life are the ones you don't plan. Things come together at the last minute, you find some unexpected new friends and before you know it you have a giant guitar-shaped drink around your neck.

Wait, you've never gone to a party with guitar-shaped drinks?

There's an easy way to fix that: Rockhouse.

Most of the people who come into Rockhouse don't ever plan on stopping by the place. Actually, they may not even know it exists until they stumble upon this frozen-drink haven as they walk up the Strip in the sweltering heat.

Rockhouse's location has to be one of the best on the Strip. Its entrance is located in front of the Imperial Palace, right on the sidewalk that sees 60,000 people walk by daily. The heavy foot traffic leads to people stopping by the front bar where they can fill up a guitar-shaped souvenir cup as early as 10 a.m. The people who walk past at night often hear loud music coming from behind the wall and they get curious. And when they see half-naked women swinging on tire swings they are full on enthralled.

There is nothing fancy about Rockhouse -- and that's the way they like it. You'll find full kegs sitting around that aren't just there for decoration, a dance floor that looks like it's been used for the last 20 years without ever getting buffed out and a brick wall that looks like it was stolen out of the outfield at Wrigley Field and had a Rockhouse logo slapped on it. And like any decent rock bar, darkness and smoke fill the room, which only fits 167 people.

As interesting as the décor is, the crowd is even more unusual. Considering most of the patrons come off the street, the crowd is as just as diverse as the one on the Strip. Sure, you'll find women in the same tight-fitting dresses you see in the clubs, but you'll also find men with Mohawks along with piercings and tattoos galore. The colorful clientele enhances the environment, creating a classic hard rocking bar / club vibe.

Now that we got all the particulars out of the way, back to those half-naked women on tire swings. There are two tire swings in which the girls of Rockhouse will take turns swinging back and forth like a pendulum and soon enough you'll find yourself entranced, trying to figure out a way to put a tire swing inside your house.

After a couple of guitar-sized drinks you'll be putting on your best Guns N' Roses impersonation inside a cage, thinking "Why can't I stumble onto things this good more often?"
