JET Review
There's a common problem in the Vegas nightlife scene – an epidemic, really. And it can strike any group of friends at any time. It's…a difference of opinion.
This might not sound all that terrifying – people disagree on all sorts of things all the time. But couple these differing opinions with the nightlife circus that is Sin City and tensions start running high. Somebody wants to hear rock music, someone wants house, someone else wants to dance. Soon you're dueling with yard-long margaritas and calling each other names.
But before you decide to burn your friendships to the ground, consider this – JET at the Mirage is basically three different clubs in one. That's more club for your dollar and less chance that your best friend will spend the night sabotaging your game because you didn't pick the club he wanted to go to.
Let us explain this whole three-separate-clubs thing. It's not that there's anything exclusionary about JET, in fact, the club blends together seamlessly. What JET offers is a main room and two side rooms that have three distinct vibes. The main room plays mostly mainstream music and the two side rooms play house and slightly less mainstream stuff.
You can set up camp in one room (either with a table or staking out your floor space early) or move between them throughout the night. Whichever way you do it (and whichever room you're in), you'll be in the thick of everything people love about Las Vegas nightclubs – music, people, dancing and, well, drinking.
Plus, although new clubs pop up on the scene all the time, at JET you don't run the risk of amateur hour on your Vegas vacation. JET opened on New Year's Eve 2006 and hasn't slowed down since – if anything, it's gotten crazier in there.
In the years it's been open, JET has thrown some crazy events and parties, and it seems like there's a new one every few months. Some of our favorites include the annual "Pole-A-Palooza," where pole dancers compete for a $10,000 prize and "Boobs or Bust" – a nearly self-explanatory promotion where female club-goers compete for a pair of breast implants. We weren't lying about the craziness of the parties.
Now that we've got you all pumped for JET, we'll leave you with a two things that'll help keep things running smoothly.
Get there early. JET still gets packed and there's inevitably a line – the earlier you get there, the closer to the doors you'll be.
Have a drink strategy. The bar in the main room is easily the busiest. Even if you don't want to commit to staying in one of the side rooms, it's usually easier to get a drink in one of them.
There are a few more things to JET, but we don't want to spoil anything. We'll just say, don't be surprised if you and your friends all have a slightly different night at the club – like we said, it's three places packed into one and, well, there's more than one way to have a good time.
