Callaway Golf Center and Giant Golf Academy Review
Located in a premier spot at the south end of the Strip (at Sunset Road near Interstate 215), Callaway Golf Center is the city's most popular and most accessible practice facility. It's also lighted for night play, which is just one more reason why both VegasGolfer magazine staff and readers have consistently voted it the city's best practice facility.
For playing/practice sessions, guests can navigate Callaway's Divine Nine, a fully lighted par-3 course. It's highlighted by waterfalls and other challenging water features, along with colorful desert vegetation, undulating, well-manicured greens and well-positioned bunkers. Designed by Bob Cupp, 1992 Architect of the Year, the course offers a solid challenge to players of every skill level, at almost any time of the day or night. Holes range from 105 to 186 yards.
At Callaway, players can work on any aspect of their game with as much or as little assistance as they prefer. The center is staffed with some of the finest golf teachers in the nation. All the golf professionals are chosen not only for their ability to play the game well but also for their ability to effectively communicate the most up-to-date teaching techniques. The center offers lessons that range from a 15-minute "Quick Fix" to a half-day lesson. Instructors utilize the latest in golf software technology that allows the student and instructor to save the student's initial swing and compare it with the student's post-swing. Instructors can later e-mail their students a virtual lesson with the swing and swing changes downloaded to the student's home computer.
For self service, the facility also includes a full range as well as a large practice putting green, sand bunkers and chipping greens. A two-tiered, 113-stall driving range features mats on top and real grass below and attractive targets measured to precise distances.
Inside, the St. Andrews Golf Shop is a fully stocked golf store that carries the largest inventory of Callaway products in the country. Ask about the special packages and also about Nevada resident specials. There's also a restaurant -- Upper Deck Grill -- to grab a quick bite for lunch or a light dinner following an after-work practice or playing session.
