Mojave Resort Golf Club Review
Native vegetation meets lush, rolling fairways in this Schmidt/Curley-designed course in Laughlin. The 6,939 yards of paradise feature four sets of tees, making it enjoyable for golfers of every ability.
The course received a four-star rating from Golf Digest and with good reason. It gives golfers plenty of challenge with water features coming into play on half the holes, and there also are 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout the layout.
The final three holes here are examples of superbly designed golf holes. The 16th is a 326-yard, par 4 that is drivable. But you better hit the perfect shot. Sand, sand and more sand around this hole they call Mirage make it a nightmare to some. A mid- to long iron off the tee leaves a short iron into this green. Play it smart and you'll head to the final holes with confidence. Put up a crooked number here, and the 17th and 18th will seem that much more difficult.
No. 17 is a par 3 that plays 178 yards from the tips -- and it's all carry to a green that is almost surrounded by water. The green is one of the larger ones on the course and a good target, but the size also makes two putts a good accomplishment. Par is a good score and sets the stage for a dramatic finish.
The 18th hole, a treacherous par 4, measures just 408 yards from the tips, but what a 408 yards it is. It's called double-cross and for very good reason. Not only does the drive have to carry over water, but also the approach to the green must avoid a watery grave, which is no easy task. A smallish green makes a tough target, and a bunker behind the green does get plenty of play. Hit it long and into that bunker and you're faced with a blast out of the sand to a downhill green with water in your view. It's one of the best finishing holes you ever will play.
The course is across the street from the Avi Hotel and Casino, and golf packages are available.
