Leroy's Race and Sports Book at the Tropicana Review

With only seven televisions and 24 seats, the race and sports book at the Tropicana is small -- tiny even. It is also off the beaten path, secluded at the bottom of a stairwell in a corner of the 50-year-old casino.

The televisions are older models; no flat screens or plasma televisions here. And the book itself isn't very busy -- possibly because there are several larger, more modern books at the Tropicana's neighboring hotels.

But when you walk in from the casino above you may even feel like you're entering a place where everyone knows your name. The staff is friendly, the chairs (although dated) are comfortable and a window in the middle of the staircase provides ample people watching opportunities.

There is also no shortage of betting opportunities, from daily lines to match-ups, although the boards lack the electronic advances of some of the bigger sports books -- here they are all handwritten.
