South Point Race and Sports Book Review

The South Point Race and Sports Book may not be the biggest around, but it's pretty close. This wagering extravaganza stretches across an entire huge side of the casino's main floor. It's well lit, airy and impossible to miss with its many television screens.

Its long counter features many cashiers and staff members framed by electronic and printed results and odds. A wide gamut of betting possibilities are available at South Point, from major sports team parlays and futures to NASCAR, boxing and more -- even an occasional camel race can pop up on the big screens.

The race book boasts 16 consoles for seated "days at the horse track."

The book has one of the handiest layouts for access to food and drink in town. There's the Del Mar Lounge sports bar in the center back of the book, and just a short walk across the casino floor leads to the good offerings of the Del Mar Deli -- have some corned beef with that quinella pick.

And, for the budget minded sports bettor, the book has a Vienna beef hot dog stand up front. At 75 cents a pup with complementary kraut, onions and relish, it's super cheap but good eats.

This is also the biggest race and sports book I-15 travelers from California will approach as they roll into Vegas.
