Luxor Race and Sports Book Review

If you're staying at the Luxor and aren't willing to make the walk to the the larger books at Mandalay Bay or Excalibur, the in-house book at the Luxor will certainly do.

The non-smoking book has four rows of elongated desks, five desks deep. Each desk has six individual TVs and seating for 12. There's a bank of five large TVs over the betting counter in the sports book and 10 more in the horseplayer area.

Most channels on the individual TVs have decent to good reception. The individual sets are a bit dated compared with newer books. The pictures are clear on the larger TVs, but the sets are positioned too high for those sitting in the front desks and too far away for those watching from the back desks. Sit in the second row for the best view.

The boards are handwritten, with magnets for teams. The race entries and odds are written on giant sheets of paper and hung from the wall. All the posted odds are easy to view, and there are plenty of betting options.

Drinks are available at the Play Bar, located at the entrance to the book.
