The Ice Rink Review
The Ice Rink at The Cosmopolitan’s Boulevard Pool brings a new kind of cool to the Strip.
The Cosmopolitan transforms the iconic Boulevard Pool into a winter wonderland. The main pool is covered by a frozen platform. In addition to spectacular views of the Las Vegas Strip, enjoy skating, custom-designed fire pits, Adirondack chairs, picnic tabes, warm cocktails, s’mores, grilled cheese sandwiches and chili and a lot more.
The Ice Rink combines a playful, yet luxurious atmosphere, reminiscent of Central Park's rink. This unique experience allows you to enjoy the brisk outdoors amongst fire pits and picnic tables while you sample hot drinks and bites and skate on real ice. Who knew you could enjoy something like this in the middle of the desert?
"Ice skating conjures a sense of nostalgia, whether it's a memory from your childhood or the possibility of creating a new memory with friends and family," said Lisa Marchese, CMO of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. "And of course, once you you transplant it to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, it gets even more special."
While the warm, summer nights won’t be back for a while, the winter festivities are sure to bring the heat. The Ice Rink will offer “Date Skate Mondays,” where you and your date can enjoy a night out skating while holiday movies play on the hotel’s 65-foot digital marquee. And if you’re the dancing type, every Wednesday skaters can groove to live DJ-spun music. We like to call it nightlife on ice. And finally, “Throwback Thursdays” gives you the chance to pack your bright coats and leg warmers as you skate the night away to music from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. If you're curious how the rink stays frozen, it contains a 13,000-pound chiller that cools fluid in pipes under the ice.
A full bar will also be available, including The Ice Rink’s signature cocktail, The Campfire Delight. This cocktail consists of toasted marshmallow syrup, chocolate and rum. Enjoy your drink with warm and savory food options.
Get ready to bundle up for this icy adventure, because this is one Vegas treat you’ll want to warm up to. You can bring your own skates, or you can rent a pair at The Ice Rink for $5. An all-day skate pass is $15 ($10 for locals). Parents can push their little ones (or friends!) on seal scooters, $5 per rental. You can even use the seal scooter to help with your own balance while you skate.
Admission to the area surrounding The Ice Rink is free. The Ice Rink will be closed on New Year’s Eve.
The Boulevard Pool also hosts numerous events throughout the year, like movie screenings and nighttime concerts.
