CityCenter Fine Art Collection Review

While CityCenter's architecture is considered a work of art on its own, there's a lot more to see besides the stunning exterior.

CityCenter presents the first major permanent art collection in Las Vegas to be included in a public space as well as one of the world's largest corporate art collections. The CityCenter Fine Art Collection features works by acclaimed artists and sculptors including Maya Lin, Jenny Holzer, Nancy Rubins, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, Frank Stella, Henry Moore and Richard Long, among others.

You can consider CityCenter a big strolling gallery. You'll run into art just by walking through CityCenter's walkways, hotels and residences. See everything from sculptures and paintings to other works of art including large-scale installations. These different types of art are sure to fascinate and educate all those who visit.

Just to get an idea how different all these art pieces are, you'll see everything from a cluster of vibrantly-colored boats at Vdara (Nancy Rubin's "Big Edge" made of stainless steel and aluminum water vessels) to a heartfelt interpretation of a mother embracing her baby at Crystals (Henry Moore's "Reclining Connected Forms " made of Roman travertine marble). And if you're on your way to Crystals from Mandarin Oriental, you'll see Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen's "Typewriter Eraser," made up of stainless steel, fiberglass and acrylic polyurethane paint (see photo at right).

And while CityCenter displays a great amount of art outdoors, don't forget to check out inside the properties, too. These pieces include Maya Lin's "Silver River," which measures at an astounding 84 feet long, weighing in at 3,700 pounds. If you plan on staying at Aria, you can't miss it -- the art piece is suspended over the hotel's registration desk.

You'll really need to see everything for yourself to get the true feeling of it all. From bright colors to metallics, every single art piece at CityCenter will blow you away.
