VEGAS.com Inks Deals with MBNA America Bank, N.A.
Las Vegas, Nevada - June 16, 2003. A deal has been signed by VEGAS.com and MBNA America Bank, N.A. to issue an exclusive Platinum Plus or Preferred Visa® credit card in conjunction with the new VEGAS.com Reward Program. This joint venture has resulted in the only credit card worldwide dedicated to the city of Vegas.
The VEGAS.com Reward Program lets cardholders trade points for anything sold on the site - accommodations, flights, car rental, dining, nightclubs, shows, front-of-the line club passes, golf, tours and more. Cardholders earn a VEGAS.com point for each dollar spent.
The card is expected to be of great interest not only to visitors but also to locals. Vegas is the fastest-growing city in the country, and residents will have the opportunity to turn everyday purchases into points redeemable for meals, entertainment, spa access and services and other activities at Vegas' world-class resorts.
According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the city hosted more than 35 million visitors last year, and 80% were repeat visitors. It's not unusual for scores of people who love Vegas to set aside a few dollars each week or month, specifically for their annual trip. Now, whether charging groceries or compact discs, people can effortlessly accumulate points toward a complete Vegas experience.
"This is a key initiative in our marketing efforts to build upon the VEGAS.com brand, and continue our unparalleled support for the businesses and people here," said Howard Lefkowitz, president of VEGAS.com. "At the same time, we are reaching out to a huge audience while presenting the whole gamut of what Vegas offers, and making it easier to enjoy any or all of it."
"We're pleased to offer a reward program through VEGAS.com that features a complete choice of travel, dining, and entertainment options," said Michael Rhodes, Chief Marketing Officer of MBNA America Bank.
Those individuals interested in carrying a VEGAS.com card and participating in the VEGAS.com Reward Program must be at least 18 years old and reside in the U.S. For more information on the new VEGAS.com Visa® credit card, call 1-866-GET-MBNA and mention priority code EMQ5 or visit www.VEGAS.com/visa.
