Air Operations Specialist

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS      

  • Perform changes and exchanges to travel itineraries in proprietary system and GDS according to airline and company guidelines.
  • Be able to qualify exceptions to airline policies, to assist customer and maintain quality customer relationship.
  • Assist customers professionally and efficiently with any travel related issues.
  • Ensure GDS queues are maintained and worked frequently.
  • Support internal customers with any air package requests or issues.
  • Process change requests from the operations team for show, hotels and tours.
  • Keep current with airline policies and airline industry standards.
  • Participate in Vendor Day and participate in vendor visits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required. 

REQUIRED TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2+ years of travel industry experience

Minimum 2 years GDS experience required (Amadeus, Sabre, or Worldspan)

OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of airline ticketing concepts and pricing
  • Experience in completing airline ticket exchanges and re-issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great customer service skills
  • Be a self-starter who exercises independent judgment and initiative
  • Must be detail oriented, proactive, and possess excellent multitasking skills
  • A team player with a positive work ethic
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize workload
  • Schedule may include nights and weekends
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
